Optimism among Canadian agriculture producers and agribusiness owners is at an all-time high, according to the fifth annual Farm Credit Canada (FCC) national Vision panel survey. A full 80% say that their farm or business will be better off in five years – a shift from 76% in 2010.
The state of farm safety in Canada remains the same since 2008, resulting in another “B” grade on the Farm Safety Report Card. Strengths, such as taking precautions for children (91%) remain strong, while weaknesses such as not working tired (35%) remain stubbornly low.
According to a recent FCC Vision panel study, producers are keeping up with the times when it comes to the use of new technology, specifically mobile devices. One third of Canadian producers say that they will try new technologies once they hear positive feedback from their peers.
Recent FCC survey results about potential careers in agriculture paint a challenging picture of the industry.
Members of the general public indicate that they are most interested in agriculture as it pertains to them personally according to a study conducted in the spring of 2011.
